Grand spaces

When Alfred Waterhouse created a dining room for the staff at the head office of The Refuge Assurance Company in Manchester, he may never have imagined that it would become the largest hotel Ballroom in the north-west of England with space to take 1,000 guests.

In the late 18th Century the Freemason's Tavern, stood at 61-65 Great Queen Street in London, started over two centuries of entertaining guests.  Today, and now De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, it is a highly regarded event venue in the capital with enough room for 1,500 for a drinks reception.

Big ideas need plenty of space and at The Principal Hotel Company, we have bags of it. Take the King’s Hall at The Principal Edinburgh George Street, a grand Victorian former banking hall, or the ornate Chapel at De Vere Beaumont Estate.

But, in the end, the real success of big events is found in the small details. Think a dedicated host, super fast free Wi-Fi (including outdoors) and menus curated by leading nutritionists.

After all, as F Scott Fitzgerald, wrote, "I like big parties. They're so intimate."
