Events centre

The Principal Events Centre is a purpose-built, multi-functional conference and events space.

Accommodating up to 400 delegates or 300 for dinner, the Event Centre offers a flexible event space of 285 m2 which can be configured in a variety of formats, from theatre to dinner dance, to suit almost any type of event.

The Events Centre is used for a wide range of purposes, for large scale events such as award ceremonies, charity gala auctions, weddings, Christmas parties and student balls, corporate conferences, large scale training or inductions, and Annual General Meetings.

With its own entrance and state of the art technology, the Events Centre is a truly versatile space and of course we are able to offer accommodation as part of a bespoke events package.

Oak room

Situated within the Klondyke Wing, which was an extension to the Royal Station Hotel in 1896, our impressive Oak room boasts many original and ornate features including magnificent oak panelled walls, an imposing fireplace and cut-glass chandeliers. With a capacity for up to 85, depending on event type, its contemporary and muted colour scheme blends perfectly with its charming historic characteristics to make the Oak room a spectacular setting for drinks receptions, parties, and private dinners on a grand scale.

Ebor room

The Ebor room, with its simple but stylish design and décor is one of the more intimate event spaces within The Principal suitable for up to 30 delegates or guests. Located on the ground floor close to the Chapter House Bar, The Ebor boasts uninterrupted views across the meticulously manicured lawns and York's city walls and offers the ideal setting for small meetings, private dinners, weddings, or as a syndicate room.

Minster room

Stylish and filled with natural light, our Minster Room overlooks our beautiful gardens with view of York Minster in the distance. Located on the ground floor near to the business centre, the Minster is an ideal main meeting room or a large syndicate room for up to 28 delegates.

Wedgewood room

As its name suggests, The Wedgewood is beautifully decorated in ornate blue and white Wedgewood. Light and airy, offering views of our gardens and York Minster and accommodating up to 40, the Wedgewood is ideal as a main meeting room or large syndicate room.

Crown room

The Crown, which can accommodate up to 40 delegates or guests is a versatile room with a view. Traditional décor with panelling and chandeliers feels contemporary with high ceilings and large windows overlooking the gardens and York Minster. This meeting room is ideal as a main meeting room or large syndicate room.

Leeman/Dante

Contemporary and stylist with a built-in plasma screen, The Leeman is ideal for use as a boardroom or as a small syndicate space for up to 10 delegates.

Jorvik

The modern Jorvik room is ideal for use as a main meeting room or large syndicate room. Located close to the Events Centre, the Jorvik is often used as a support space to events taking place there.

Tiles room

Located in a quieter area of The Principal, The Tiles is a unique grade II listed meeting space for up to 30 delegates. As its name suggests, The Clifford is impressively adorned with wall to ceiling tiles.

Clifford
