The story of The Principal Hotel Company

The story of the Principal Hotel Company has its roots in British history, tradition and values.  From the recording of the first manor house at De Vere Tortworth Estate in the 11th-century  to the completion of the Principal London (formerly Hotel Russell) on Russell Square in 1898.

Today, an extensive multi-million-pound refurbishment has created two hotel brands: Principal and De Vere (launching in September) along with a collection of partner hotels.

Whilst the refurbishment continues, Principal London will open in the autumn, see the transformation of some of our hotels below.
