A mansion house hotel near Reading
There has been an estate at Wokefield since the first house was built in the 1560s for the wealthy Plowden family. Set in 250 acres of Berkshire parkland, its history is etched in the different architectural features that greet you throughout.
Today, the renovated Wokefield Place, a modern executive centre sets the tone so that all events are memorable from weddings to meetings to training. Head outside and acres of grounds lend themselves perfectly to a range of teambuilding activities including 40ft climbing towers. The Mansion House is close to completing a multi-million-pound refurbishment, adding 21st-century comfort and style whilst complementing the original character of the property.
Heartily cooked seasonal produce is always on the menu whether you are here for a gala dinner for 200 or dinner just for two in one of our restaurants. Upstairs, the refurbishment has created a collection of luxury deluxe bedrooms.
Our leisure facilities include a swimming pool and gym, as well as an 18-hole PGA-standard golf course and outdoor activity course in the grounds.
Sitting just south-west of London, the hotel is located near Reading and is just 10 minutes from J11 of the M4 and 40 minutes from Heathrow Airport. There are fast, direct trains into London Paddington from Reading station. Read our local companion guide to discover what you can do in the surrounding area.
