De Vere Oxford Thames Chefs Win UK Qualifier of Global CompetitionJune 15, 2017
Two Oxford-based Chefs have won the UK qualifiers of a global culinary competition, the IACC Copper Skillet competition.
Claudio Costea and Cristian Paul Fratieanu from De Vere Oxford Thames hotel, part of the De Vere portfolio of country estate hotels and modern, market-leading event spaces, won the Senior and Junior UK Chapter Cook-Off categories respectively, qualifying for the European stage of the competition in London this September at the IACC Europe Knowledge Festival. The winners of which will head to America for the Global Copper Skillet Final at the IACC-Americas Connect event in Philadelphia next April.
The competition, organised by IACC, is designed to highlight the artistry and skills of IACC-member conference venue chefs from around the world. IACC’s CEO, Mark Cooper commented: “To have Cristian and Claudio both win their first Copper Skillet competition is a real achievement in itself. This is an important showcase for the standard of conference and meeting culinary expertise found at IACC certified venues and proves De Vere Oxford Thames is a top achiever”.
Commenting on the wins, Jonathan Oldroyd, General Manager of Oxford Thames, said: “We’re absolutely delighted for Cristian and Claudio and their wins are very well deserved. They are both exceptional chefs and we’re incredibly proud of their work here at De Vere Oxford Thames. We wish them the best of luck for the European finals in September.”
