De Vere Oxford Thames Chef Declared Junior Champion at the European Copper Skillet ChampionshipSeptember 29, 2017
Romanian-born Chef, Cristian Fratieanu, was declared the Junior Champion at this year’s European Copper Skillet competition, which took place in London on the 23rd September, during the IACC-European Knowledge Festival. Cristian will now compete in the IACC Global Copper Skillet final taking place in Philadelphia, April 2018.
Cristian Fratieanu from De Vere Oxford Thames, part of De Vere’s portfolio of country estate hotels and modern, market-leading event spaces, was the junior category champion for his dish of pan fried plaice with king prawns and samphire, mushrooms and baby vegetables.
Commenting on the win, Jonathan Oldroyd, General Manager at De Vere Oxford Thames, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled for Cristian on his win this weekend, which is a true testament to his culinary excellence, and of course, we’re also immensely proud of his work here at De Vere Oxford Thames. The competition, organised by IACC, is designed to highlight the artistry and skills of IACC-member conference venue chefs from around the world. IACC’s CEO, Mark Cooper commented: “The achievements of our winning chefs should not be underestimated. Competing live, under time constraints, with mystery proteins and with 150 of their industry peers watching them, creates a level of pressure that is incredible. To see the quality of the dishes that were produced makes me proud of the meetings industry that we serve in.”
